Rainbow Bridge
There is a bridge connecting Earth and After life. It is called the rainbow bridge because of its many colors.
Just this side of rainbow bridge, there is a land of meadows, hills and valleys with lush green grass and pleasant sunny days.
When a beloved pet dies, the pet goes to this place. There is always food and water, and warm spring weather. Those old frail animals are young again. Those that have been maimed are whole again. They run and play all day with each other.
But there is only one thing missing.
They are not with their special person that loved them on Earth.
So, each day they run and play until the day comes when one suddenly stops playing and looks up. The nose twitches, the ears are up and alert! the eyes are searching and staring, and this one suddenly runs from the group.
You have been seen...
And when you and your special friend meet, You take him or her in your arms and you embrace. Your face is kissed again and again and again and you look once more into the eyes of your loving and trusting pet.
Then you both cross the Rainbow bridge together, never again to be separated.

LEND ME A PUP

I will lend for you awhile,  a pup God said,
For you to love while he lives, and mourn for when she is dead.
Maybe for 12 or 14 years or maybe 2 or 3.
But will you, till I call her back, take care of her for me?
She'll bring her charms to gladden you, (should her stay be breif)
You'll always have her memories as solace for your greif.
I cannot promise she will stay, since all from earth return.
But there are lessons taught below I want this pup to learn.
I looked the whole world over in search of teachers true,
And from the folk that crowd's life's land I have chosen you.
Now will you give her all your love, nor think that labour vein.
Nor hate me when I come to take my pup back again.
I fancied that I heard them say, "Dear lord thy will be done"
For all the joys this pup will bring, the risk of greif will run.
We'll shelter her with tenderness, We'll love her why we may.
And for the happiness we've known forever grateful stay.
But should you call her back much sooner than we've planned, We'll brave the bitter greif that comes, and try to understand.
If, by are love, we've managed, your wishes to acheive, In memory of her we loved, to help us while we greive.
When are faithful bundle departs this world of strife,
We'll have yet another pup and love her all her life.

ITS THE BRIDGE THAT WE CALL LOVE

God look around his garden and found an empty place
He then looked down upon the earth and saw your tired face.

He put his arms around you and lifted you to rest
God's garden must be beautiful he always takes the best.

He knew that you were suffering He knew that you were in pain
He knew that you would never get well on earth again.

He saw that the roads were getting rough and the hills were hard to climb
So he closed your weary eyelids and whispered "Peace be thine."

It broke are hearts to lose you but you didn't go alone
For part of us went with you the day God called you home.

I ONLY WANTED YOU

They say memories are golden,
Well maybe that is true.
I never wanted memories,
I only wanted you.

A million times I needed you,
A million times I cried.
If love alone could have saved you,
You never would have died.

In life I loved you dearly,
In death I love you still.
In my heart you hold a place
no one could ever fill.

If tears could build a stairway,
And heartache make a lane.
I'd walk the path to heaven,
And bring you back again.

Our family chain is broken,
And nothing seems the same.
But as god calls us one by one,
the chain will link again.
A PARTING PRAYER

Dear Lord please open your gates and call St. Francis, to escort this beloved companion across the Rainbow Bridge.
Assign her to a place of honor, For she has been a faithful servant and has always done her best to please me.
Bless the hands that send her to you,
for they are doing so in love and compassion,
freeing her from pain and suffering.
Grant me the strength not to dwell on my loss.
Help me remember the details of her life with the love she has shown me.
And grant me the courage to honor her, by sharing those memories with others.
Let her remember me as well, and let her know that I will always love her.
And when its my time to pass over into your paradise,
Please allow her to accompany those who will bring me home.
And grant me strength for giving her to you now.

Tribute to a best friend

Sunlight streams through window pane
upon a spot on the floor....
Then I remember,
Its where you use to lie,
but now you are no more.
Our feet walk down a hall of carpet,
A muted echoe sound..
Then I remember,
Its where your paws would joyously abound,
A voice I hear along the road,
and up beyond the hill,
But then I remember it can't be yours,
your golden voice is still.
But I'll take that vacant spot on the floor
and empty muted hall,
and lay them with the absent voice
and unused dish along the wall.
I'll wrap these treasured memories,
in a blanket of my Love,
And keep them for my best friend,
until we meet above.

A LITTLE DOG ANGEL

High up in the courts of heaven today
a little dog angel waits,
with the other angels she will not play,
but she sits along the gate.
"For I know my master will come" says she,
and when she comes she will call for me.
The other angels pass her by,
as they hurry towards the throne,
and she watches them with wistful eye,
as she sits at the gates alone.
"But I know if I just sit patiently
that someday my master will call for me"
And her master down on earth below,
as she sits in her easy chair
forgets sometimes and whispers low,
to the dog who is not there.
And the little dog angel cocks her ears
and dreams that her masters voice she hears.
And when at last her master waits
outside in the dark and cold,
for the hand of death to open the door,
that leads to those courts of gold,
She will hear a sound through the gathering dark,
A little dog angel's bark.
I lost a treasured friend today
The little dog that use to lay
Her gentle head upon my knee
And share her silent thoughts with me.
She'll come no longer to my call
Retrieve no more her favorite ball,
A voice far greater than my own
has called her to his golden throne.
Although my eyes are filled with tears
I thank him for the happy years
He let her spend down here with me
and for her love and loyalty.
When its time for me to go
and join her there, his much I know
I shall not fear the transient dark
For she will greet me with a bark.

You were a bright light for me
my shinning star
Now the light has gone out
how will I go on!
I loved you in life and
I love you in death
Such sadness has swept me
away like a tidal wave
Carried me to another place
and now someone else remains to grieve
because my pain is indescribable.
You were my strength
my brave little soldier
and now the strength has gone from me too
I miss you so desperately
You were everything to me
you gave me so much joy
and now the angels are the lucky ones
as they watch you romp on heaven's greens
But I to was lucky once
She loved me with all her heart
we bonded in life
and now in death I'll carry her where ever I go.
